What we collect when you apply for membership or write to us, why we keep it, and how to ask us to change or delete it.

Who we are
AIREM — the Association for Artificial Intelligence Research in Energy & Mechanics — is a non-profit professional association. For any question about this policy, write to info@airem.org.
What we collect
- Membership applications: first and last name, email, phone (optional), organization or university, country, current role, area of interest, and anything you write in the message field.
- Contact form: name, email, organization (optional), topic, subject and your message.
- Newsletter: your email address.
We do not ask for payment card details on this website, and we never ask for passwords.
Why we use it
- To review membership applications and manage your membership.
- To answer your questions and keep a record of our correspondence.
- To send association news and event invitations, if you asked for them.
We process this data on the basis of the consent you give when you submit a form, and on our legitimate interest in running the association. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Who else sees it
Your data is handled by the AIREM board and the membership team. We also use service providers to run the website and our email — for example web hosting, form handling and email delivery. They process data only on our instructions. We never sell your personal data.
How long we keep it
Membership records are kept while you are a member and for up to two years afterwards. Contact messages are kept for up to two years. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Write to info@airem.org and we will answer within 30 days.
Cookies and local storage
This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies. It stores one item in your browser’s local storage — your choice of light or dark appearance — and that never leaves your device. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google servers and your IP address is visible to them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date shown at the top of this page.
